Freakshakes: 3 tasty ideas for you to try

Freakshakes: 3 tasty ideas for you to try

Freakshakes are the ultimate frozen dessert. These crowd-pleasing beverages start with a base of ice cream and are crowned with unbelievably decadent toppings. Here are three delicious recipes to try at home.

S’more freakshakes

1S’more freakshake

Do you love s’mores? This mouth-watering recipe will bring back those toasty evenings by the campfire!

  • Rim the glass with hot fudge sauce and whipped cream, then sprinkle on some graham cracker crumbs and chocolate (chips or chunks).
  • Pour a little sauce in the bottom of the glass and add a scoop of chocolate ice cream. In a blender, mix vanilla ice cream, Graham crackers and milk, then pour it into the glass.
  • Put a Graham cracker on the rim of the glass, pressing it into the sauce so it stays in place. Add a piece of chocolate, then garnish with toasted marshmallows, whipped cream and chocolate chips.
Sweet ’n salty freakshake

2Sweet ’n salty freakshake

Do you prefer sweet or salty? Why choose? This delicious recipe gives you the best of both worlds!

  • Coat the rim of the glass with caramel sauce and cover it with mini pretzels.
  • Drip caramel sauce down the interior of the glass, covering the bottom. In a blender, mix vanilla ice cream, a spoonful of sauce and some milk, then pour it into the glass.
  • Top it all off with whipped cream and caramel sauce. Garnish with some caramel corn, salted peanuts and crumbled pretzels.
Fruity freakshake

3Fruity freakshake

A slightly lighter but just as decadent icy treat

  • Blend together frozen strawberries, frozen vanilla yogurt and coconut milk (or almond milk) and pour the mixture halfway up the glass.
  • Repeat with a frozen banana. Pour it on top of the strawberry mixture.
  • Thread banana and strawberry slices onto a swizzle stick, add some whipped cream and top with strawberry coulis. As a finishing touch, decorate with rainbow sprinkles and grated coconut.

FREAKSHAKE 101

  • Mason jars are ideal for freakshakes.
  • Choose a thick sauce that will hold the garnishes. We suggest caramel, Nutella, peanut butter, hot fudge or marshmallow sauce.
  • Keep your whipped cream cold until it’s time to decorate.
  • Use straws or small skewers to hold heavier garnishes.
  • Feel free to indulge your wackiest ideas when topping your freakshakes: cookies, brownies, waffles, doughnuts, mini-cupcakes, etc. Let your imagination run wild!
