5 Ideas Worthy of a Food Truck!
Get inspired by all the creativity of those food trucks’ concepts out on the streets! Here are five ideas you can try right at home.
1Corn dogs
First, prepare a classic beer batter. Skewer the sausages with wooden sticks, then roll them in the batter and fry until golden brown. Vegetable oil, canola oil, grapeseed oil and peanut oil are good choices for frying.
You can always go for the traditional hot dog wiener, or branch out a bit and try the pogo with merguez or chorizo. Corn dogs will surely be a monster success for everybody hanging around the pool!
Try your corn dog with one of many delicious flavoured or spiced mayos and mustards.
2Poutine
Concoct the best poutine in town by daring to revisit this classic recipe! Fries, sauces, cheeses and toppings…in the kingdom of poutine, the possibilities are endless!
Add a special touch to your traditional poutine by topping it with pulled pork or beef, sour cream, bacon and chopped green onions.
Sweet potato fries certainly find their place among grated smoked mozzarella and lightly sweetened BBQ sauce. Another amazing alternative? Combine duck confit, caramelized onions with red wine sauce plus a generous portion of curd cheese. Our mouths are watering already!
3Lobster (or any kind of) roll
A classic snack, the roll consists of a hot-dog bun stuffed with salad made with mayo. Lobster, fake crab, shrimp…it can be made with a wide variety of flavours.
Make the lobster a snack fit for a king by adding orange pieces, romaine lettuce, chopped green onion, chopped seedless tomatoes and a touch of Espelette pepper to taste. A real treat!
Nordic shrimp go swimmingly with creamy seafood dressing, cucumber, sour cream and parsley. You can also opt for fake crab with green apple, corn and dill.
4The grilled cheese
Soft, rich and gooey…the grilled cheese offers something for all appetites, from the most conservative to the totally outrageous!
Vary your cheeses and bread so you never get bored. Focaccia or multigrain bread quickly transform your sandwich into a delicacy when accompanied by delicious cheeses. Cheddar or gouda go well together, or try fontina and mozzarella, or even gruyere, asiago and parmesan.
You can also add caramelized onions, BBQ pulled pork, slices of avocado, sweetened pecans, smoked prosciutto, arugula or baby spinach… doesn’t get any better than this!
5The sundae
Often nostalgic, a sundae takes us right back to childhood. It must be said that a sundae makes room for all the best treats, a virtual rainbow of candies, chocolate sauce and topped with whipped cream and a cherry!
Need inspiration? Put a big scoop of ice cream with Nutella or any other chocolate spreads, top with nuts and chunks of brownies.
Why not create a s’mores version with vanilla ice cream, melted chocolate, whipped or marshmallow cream, graham crackers topped with mini marshmallows. A real treat!
