It’s hard not to feel nostalgic on the first snowfall. A carpet of white instantly reminds us of family fun, from building forts and snowmen to spending cozy afternoons whisking, mixing and baking time-honoured favourites—and a few new recipes, too. After all, there’s no better way to warm up rosy cheeks than with a milk-and-cookies treat.

Chocolate chip with a twist - While piping hot chocolate chip cookies are as classic as they are utterly irresistible, they can be a bit predictable. We’re all about add-ins, and there are the failsafe options, of course (nuts, dried fruit, white, peanut butter or butterscotch chips), but we think this is the perfect opportunity to get creative. How about crushed pretzels, chips or bacon? Smashed candy canes, chopped Oreos or marshmallows? Be sure to note quantities, as you’ll definitely stumble upon a combination you’ll want to enjoy over and over again…
