For the apples:
Melt butter.
Combine the brown sugar, the melted butter, and sliced apples in a 9X9 inch baking pan.
Bake in the oven for 15 minutes at 350 degrees.
For the pudding:
While the apples are baking, in a large bowl beat the butter with the brown sugar.
Add the eggs and beat again. Add the melted chocolate and beat again.
In a large measuring cup, measure all the dried ingredients (except the baking soda). In another measuring cup, measure the hot water and mix the baking soda. Add the dried ingredient in alternance with the water and baking soda mix. End with the dried ingredients.
Pour the pudding batter on the apples while evening it with a spoon.
Bake the pudding in the oven for 40-45 minutes at 350 degrees.
