Whether you’re getting together for your traditional family Sunday dinner or searching for a new exciting dish to try with friends, think about cooking with pork. It’s great on the grill, roasted, broiled, pan-fried… and the list goes on and on!

About Metro’s Platinum Grill Perfect Pork

Our Platinum Grill Perfect Pork is always tender, juicy and always the highest quality. Our Canadian bred pork is raised without antibiotics and vegetable grain fed. And the best part, it’s easy to cook! Check out our guide to the different cuts available to find inspiration for your next meal.

None of our products come from animals given antibiotics. If an animal gets sick, a vet will do what is necessary to treat it, but if it requires antibiotics, it will not be part of the Perfect Pork product offering.

There are never any hormones given to pigs ever (like all pork in Canada by law). That includes things such as Ractopamine, a feed additive that promotes leanness in animals.

All Perfect Pork pork products are from pigs raised on Canadian farms.

A complete vegetarian diet is provided to the pigs that make it to our Perfect Pork products

We have a strong commitment to animal care and we make sure third party standards, practices and training programs.

What does Animal Care Certified mean?

Animal Care Certified means that pigs are treated compassionately and responsibly. This certification is built on a food safety and animal care program for hogs known as Canadian Quality Assurance® (CQA®) and Animal Care Assessment ™ (ACA™).  The program is recognized internationally because of its unique process of being developed by expert consensus. The 2014 ACA program is based on the National Farm Animal Care Council Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Pigs (https://www.nfacc.ca/codes-of-practice/pigs) and is currently being updated to reflect more rigorous standards.

Veterinarians, who specialize in hog care, audit farms to validate records and ensure compliance to the updated standards. The program requires a full, on-farm assessment at least once every three years, though assessments occur more often at some farms. For more details on the program. While it is optional for Canadian producers to comply with the CQA program, we ensure that all of our producers are certified under the CQA & ACA program.

What are the requirements to be certified under CQA/ACA programs?

The Animal Care Assessment requirements are based on the Canadian federal government’s Code of Practice for the Care and Handling of Pigs.
