Vegan raclette!

Raclette gets its name from the Swiss cheese that is usually the star of this dish, along with various types of charcuterie. But if you’re vegetarian, vegan, or dairy intolerant, don’t get rid of your raclette grill just yet! It is possible to enjoy a raclette dinner that is 100% vegan and 100% delicious!

Your grocer has several alternatives to dairy cheese and is constantly adding more options!

Here are a few tips and ideas for a tasty vegan raclette:

1Vary your protein

As an alternative to charcuterie, check out seitan-based products! Seitan loafs are already seasoned and can be enjoyed as is or grilled.

Thinly sliced extra firm tofu is also a good option. For even more flavour, add a drizzle of olive oil, a bit of salt and freshly ground pepper and heat the tofu up on the grill!

2Get some mushrooms

With their rich flavour and their fast cook time, mushrooms are a must for any raclette dinner! If you buy them whole, simply thinly slice them before cooking. Shitake mushrooms are a flavourful variety and white mushrooms are always a solid bet.

Don’t hesitate to mix it up with other kinds of mushrooms such as enoki mushrooms. Browse the fruits and vegetables aisle to see the impressive variety of mushrooms your grocer has to offer.

3Don’t forget your green veggies

Grilling enhances the flavours of several green vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, broccoli, broccolini, and kale so don’t be shy when it comes to raclette! To make vegetables easier to grill, thinly slice them or, for veggies like kale, chop them into bite-size pieces.

And to pack even more flavour into every bite, before you grill them, add a drizzle of infused oil such as Irresistibles dipping olive oil. You’ll be astounded at how quickly these green veggies disappear!

4Discover gnocchi!

Gnocchi, a delicious fluffy flour and potato-based pasta, can be used instead of potatoes in several recipes. If you have store-bought gnocchi, simply heat it in boiling water for 2 to 3 minutes and then toss on the grill. But make sure to drain them thoroughly and coat them in some olive oil.

With a drizzle of soya preparation for cooking, fresh herbs, and a grating block, you’ll be able to prepare a wonderful meal!

5Think pizza

Mini pizzas on a raclette grill is a recipe you should definitely try. With some vegan mini naans, tomato sauce, a Gusta vegan alternative to pepperoni, vegetables, and a grating block, everyone can prepare mini pizzas to their exact liking. And for those who love raclette cheese, this should whet your appetite: Dairy free ale aged creamy cultured cashew wheel
