In saucepan, sauté onion in oil over medium heat for 5 minutes or until onions are soft. Add garlic and sauté for 1 minute.Add stock or wine, bay leaves, sugar, basil, oregano, salt, black pepper and cook for approximately 4 minutes or to reduce liquid by half.Add tomatoes and tomato paste. Bring to boil, reduce heat to simmer and cook for 10 minutes.Adjust seasoning.
