Preheat barbecue to medium heat.
In a medium bowl, combine olive oil, half the garlic, salt and pepper.
Add the mushrooms and marinate for 30 minutes.
Mix the meat, egg, onion and remaining garlic.
Shape 4 patties and grill on barbecue.
For a smokier taste, cook the squares of Parmesan fondue en papillote.
On the grill, lay 2 sheets of aluminum foil. Place the squares of Parmesan fondue in the centre of the foil; add the thyme. Close the foil tightly and cook for about 10 minutes.
Cook the mushrooms on the grill until they are golden brown.
Garnish burger buns with ketchup and place a patty, mushrooms and one square of Parmesan fondue. Add lettuce and slices of red onion, to taste.
