Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
Cook pasta for 8 minutes.
Peel the shrimp.
Cut asparagus into 2" pièces.
Halve the cherry tomatoes.
After 5 minutes, drop asparagus into pasta pot and cook for 3-5 minutes more.
Drain and reserve some pasta cooking water.
Heat olive oil and butter in a pan over medium-high heat until butter melts.
Cook the shrimp with salt and pepper for 1 to 2 minutes on each side or until done.
Remove shrimp from pan.
Add the penne, asparagus, pesto and walnuts to the pan and mix well.
Add some of the starchy water 1 tablespoon at a time until desired consistency.
Add the tomatoes, shrimp, basil, and some salt and pepper.
Serve in bowls garnished with parmesan.
