Tie cinnamon, cloves, and orange zest up in a bit of cheesecloth.Put bundled spices in water and bring to a boil. Boil uncovered for about 30 minutes.Add Bordeaux and let stand at room temperature for 12 hours.Soak raisins in 1/2 cup (125 mL) cognac for 12 hours.The day of the party, heat wine and add port and remaining cognac. Heat gently keeping mixture under a boil and sweeten to taste!Stir in cognac-soaked raisins and slivered almonds and serve hot.
