Over medium low heat, thicken the sauce, stirring occasionally to obtain a tomato sauce style texture.
Brown the beef in the butter, stirring.
Once the beef is cooked, add the onions and stir for 2 minutes.
Once the onions are translucent, add the tomatoes and the thickened Dic Ann's sauce and stir to combine everything evenly.
Reduce the mixture to low heat and add the block of Velveeta cheese. Using a spatula, stir constantly so that the melting cheese does not stick, until the block is completely melted.
