Our Juno-nominated artist

The concert portion of the night featured London’s very own Texas King, as well as surprise JUNO award winning guest Scott Helman. The singer-songwriter, who has toured the U.S. and Europe, performed a few of his chart-topping hits with, of course, his famous guitar in hand.

Leaps and bounds in London

Industrialization changed the world dramatically, and Canada is certainly no exception. But when Arva Flour Mills was established in 1819, there was no Canada. There was no Arva, either; the area was called St. John and was home to a few settlers in the British colony of Upper Canada. Over the years, the mill changed hands several times and machinery was upgraded, but one thing remained constant: the whirring of the water-powered turbines, which you’ll still hear today.

Today, London’s economy has exploded in sectors like medical research and information technology, but without the legacy of agriculture and food manufacturing, London may have never thrived into the flourishing city it is today.

The London beat

Culture thrives in London, and the city is home to several museums, countless festivals and world-class performers, artists and authors. For the London edition of the Metro Homegrown Tour, we’ve collaborated with Coalition’s Incubator Project to select up-and-coming talent to entertain guests as they arrive on-site.

The main stage will feature Texas King, providing a stellar soundtrack of Canadian classics for the evening. The cherry on top? A VIP Juno-nominated artist will join them on-stage for a truly unforgettable experience.

Fresh Ontario flavour

Metro prides itself on supporting local growers while delivering the highest quality produce directly to consumers. Throughout Ontario, this is possible thanks to a thriving farming community.

In fact, many of the products you’ll find on the shelves at your local Metro are sourced from local producers from across Ontario, including delicious, fresh produce and dairy products.

It doesn’t get much fresher than that!

Bring the atmosphere home

Couldn’t make it to the party? Create your own London-inspired get-together at home with these décor tips.

Three zero-fuss ideas to make your table picture-perfect.

Go with grass

Go with grass

And wheat, and barley, too. Try these instead of florals to create rustic centrepieces that pay tribute to Canada’s agricultural legacy. Bonus: They’re affordable, long-lasting and make perfect mementos for your guests to take home.

Shift into neutral

Let nature inspire a cozy palette featuring shades of straw, clay and bark. To keep things from veering into “blah” territory, play with texture to create visual interest: Think burlap runner, wicker lampshades and hammered metal vessels, for starters.

Can’t host your party in an actual barn? Bring the barn to your backyard or dining room! Look for pieces crafted from old wood (think table, serving trays, display boxes and more) to give your gathering a helping of Old World charm.
