Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).Butter one side of each slice of bread.Lay figs on buttered bread.Top with cheese and a second slice of bread.Bake for 5 minutes or until cheese is melted and bread toasted golden brown.Open sandwiches and add lettuce.

Preparation
