In a bowl, combine all the ingredients for the marinade.Add the meat of your choice (beef, pork, or chicken) or tofu in the bowl and let marinade for at least 2 hours in the fridge.

1/2 cup (125 ml) ketchup
1 shallot chopped
1 garlic clove chopped
1 tablespoon (15 ml) maple syrup
1 teaspoon (5 ml) Worcestershire sauce
1/4 teaspoon (1 ml) Sriracha sauce (or other hot sauce, optional)
