Heat the butter in a pan on medium. Add the pears, pecans, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Mix and cook for another 5 minutes while stirring occasionally. Set aside on low heat.
Whisk the eggs in a small bowl. Add the milk and cinnamon and stir.
Melt the butter in a large pan on medium high.
Dip the slices of bread in the egg mixture then cook in the pan for 1 minute. Flip and cook for another 30 seconds. Repeat for each slice of bread. If there is egg mixture left, cook into scrambled eggs.
Place each slice of French toast on a plate and top with the caramelized pears. Serve and enjoy.
