In a large frying pan, heat the oil over medium high heat. Brown the chicken cubes on all sides. Set aside.In the same pan, sauté the onions, ginger and pears for 3 to 5 minutes.Add the sauce, broth and chicken cubes. Bring to a boil and let simmer for 1 minute.Dissolve the cornstarch with the water, pour into the pan, mix and season to taste. Let simmer for another minute or until the chicken is fully cooked. Serve on a bed of rice or noodles.
