Core apples, cut into eight unpeeled wedges. In a large skillet, melt butter and brown apple wedges on medium heat for 10 minutes.Turn apples over and sprinkle with sugar. Add orange zest.Cook 10 minutes on low.Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).Cover the bottom of a 9-in. (23-cm) diameter baking tin with apples and kiwis. Pour apple syrup over the fruit.Cover with short pastry crust, tucking in edges.Bake 30 minutes. Serve warm.
